  People often ask me how I got interested in making jewellery, well, I have always been fascinated by jewellery, as long as I can remember. My Mother loved fine jewellery, not costume, but, diamonds & gems, so my Father would buy her jewellery when ever he could. Those sparkly things made her so happy.
    We often went to the  Royal Ontario Museum on Sundays where I spent ages studying the elaborate Turquoise Egyptian beaded collars, gold Etruscan Earrings, the elaborate bead work by Native Canadians, etc.
    I loved watching old movies on Saturday afternoons, those Hollywood costumes and jewellery were fantastic! Remember the elaborate gold and turquoise jewellery in Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor, the fantastic arm cuffs and anklet in the sold Samson and Delia, the sparkly gems worn by Greta Garbo in Camille, I tried to make the costumes and jewellery myself with old curtains and stuff in the basement.
     I remember making little  bracelets and  crowns with soft willow branches in my garden. I made jewellery with whatever I could find.
   I started collecting vintage jewellery and beads very young and I remember the day it all started,  I was about 7 years old and I went to my first garage sale.
     It was a  beautiful summer Saturday morning, I was on my way to the park to meet my friends (it was only a few houses away) when I saw lot's of people going in and out of  my neighbors driveway, so I went to see what was going on.
     It's amazing how the memory of that summer morning at the garage sale is so clear in my mind, like yesterday. It was a warm morning, the grass was a little long, I remember because I was wearing sandals and the grass was still covered in dew, wetting my little feet.
    I remember the tall fur trees surrounding the garden the the sunshine gleaming off something laying on one of the make shift  tables she had set up in the middle of the garden.
   I saw a pair of what I thought were diamond earrings sitting on the wooden board, but, they were just old screw-back rhinestone earrings. I asked the woman if I could hold them, and I asked if they were diamonds, she laughed in a nice way and said "no, they are just rhinestones, but, very special".
  I can clearly remember the look of  love and longing in the old woman's  eyes as she talked about how she used to wear them going out for dinner and dancing with her husband. I also remember the way she looked off into the distance for a moment, then smiled, as she reminisced about the past.
   All I had was a nickel in my pocket, but, she was so happy to let me have them, but, I had to promise to take care of them.
   I was thrilled, I wore those sparkly earrings all summer, to the playground, out shopping with my Mom, even to school in the fall. Those screw back earrings really pinched my ears, but, I didn't care  because I felt like a princess wherever I went.
   That was the beginning of a life long passion for collecting vintage jewellery and beads.
   I have found so many amazing treasures over the years,  fascinating stones, beads and findings that I used to create  my own jewellery.  I took most things apart to reuse the bits and pieces. I saved everything I could to use again. I was "Up-cycling" before it became fashionable, lol!
    I have been creating jewellery for as long as I can remember, it was fun, but, my jewellery became (and still is) a healing gift after I injured my back at work when I was only 22 years old. I then developed Fibromyaliga and many other illness including  Cancer, depression, etc. Creating and restoring jewellery has helped me to live with the daily chronic pain.
   I wanted to share my jewellery with others, so,  I started my business and built my first website many years ago, it has opened doors I could never have imagined.
  I could not have done any of this without the strength of my faith and the love and support from my husband.

Romantic Fantasy Pearl Crystal Statement Necklace and Earring Set made with Up-cycled Vintage crystal and pearls.

This is a stunning bohemian vintage inspired necklace and earring set made with Up-cycled Vintage clear Aurora Borealis crystal beads and vintage round and drop shaped faux pearls.
I created long steams of alternating crystal and pearls that dangle from a steam or round pearls creating a magnificent necklace that looks like a collar style necklace with the freedom of movement in a fringe style necklace. It is sparkly, rich and very rich elegant!
A row of beaded 8mm round pearls with 14mm long drop shaped pearls and many clear ab Vintage crystals (most likely original 1950’s Swarovski crystal beads) sizes 6mm, 8mm & 10mm round faceted.
    The ends of the necklace are finished with fancy, filigree metal bead caps and beads. The necklace fastens with a lobster claw clasp to a long extension chain that is finished with matching pearls and crystal to create a sexy back dangle.
   The long dangle earring match the necklace with a 6mm round crytal, then a 14mm long pearl drop and a 10mm round crystal dangles on the base, they look amazing!
   It is difficult to photo the true beauty and sparkle of this set, your going to love it!

Necklace in the creative process, cutting the old pearls off the knotted cord, inspecting for damage and choosing the best for my new necklace and earring set.  It is a long process, but, the quality is extremely important in all my creations.
